It's Monday. What Are You Reading? 5/28/12

A weekly meme hosted by Teach Mentor Texts
It has been so long since I have participated in "It's Monday! What Are You Reading?"! It's not because I haven't been reading, but because school is so crazy! Now that things are winding down, I have been able to devote some more time to my blog.

Anyway, here is what I have read since the last time I posted:

 The Picture Books
Several of these can be found on We Give Books. The others were just random grabs from the library.

The Novels
If you enjoyed The Hunger Games trilogy, you should read this trilogy. So good!

Another book that was very Hunger Games-esque. Notice a trend in my genre preference as of late?

I originally read the sequel first. Both this and The Trouble with May Amelia were great.
I listened to these on CD. Tim Curry did a marvelous job with #1 and #2. I was not as impressed by the author's performances. I am anxious to get to the book where Mr. Curry takes over again.

Reading This Week

Sequel to Divergent. I am reading this one slowly as it will be a long wait for the third and final installment. Check out the book trailer below.

  1. Your picture books look awesome, I liked Our Only May Amelia, what a hard life they had in those times. Divergent and Insurgent are great, I listened to Insurgent and am going to have to repeat it before the next one so that I am refreshed. Can't wait for it.

  2. I'm interested to hear your thoughts on Insurgent (tweet me, if you want!). I thought Divergent was great, and kept me on the edge of my seat, but didn't have the same feeling about Insurgent :(

    Have a great reading week!

  4. Love all of the picture books...I'll definitely be adding some to my TBR list!
I read Insurgent waaaaay too fast! I want to reread this summer. Have you read Delirium, yet? If you liked Divergent and Crossed, you should check this one out!

  5. I am sure how I am feeling about Insurgent. It's tough with series, isn't it? Once you finish one, you always compare the next one to the one you just read. And they never seem like they are going to be quite as good, but by the time you get to the end, and you've just gotten used to a "new" book, it's over and you can't imagine the NEXT one being as good. I felt this way with both Harry Potter and The Hunger Games. It's a reader's curse!

  6. Great list!
I am actually on We Give Books right now looking for new picture books- I look forward to reading some of the ones you read.

    Happy reading this week! :)

  7. What a list! We started collecting the Ladybug Girl books before my daughter was born (it was sort of her theme). Guess we should start collecting the Bumblebee Boy books for my son now. And I used to use Cendrillon as part of a "Fairytales Across Cultures" unit for 4th and 5th graders. San Souci was always popular, as he tends to be a little bit creepy...which of course they love ;)
