It's Monday! What Are You Reading? 6/18/12

A weekly meme hosted by Teach Mentor Texts

This week I finished reading Insurgent by Veronica Roth. This was the second book of the DIvergent Trilogy. I feel like Roth really hit her stride with the second book. While the first one was very good, this one was, in my opinion, much better. The only downside is the cliffhanger ending...because now I have to wait with bated breath for the third book to hit shelves. I highly recommend this series if you enjoyed The Hunger Games Trilogy (the BOOKS, not just the movie). However, I think it is more appropriate for an older crowd as it is definitely YA and above in terms of content.

This week I am going to start working on The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan. This book is the first of the Heroes of Olympus series. I am told that although there are new characters, Riordan refers back to the Percy Jackson series and ties it into the new series. I did not finish reading all of those books, so I may have to abandon it if I feel lost...we'll see! What great books are you reading?

  1. I have both Insurgent and The Lost Hero on my stack of books to read in the next few weeks. Glad to hear positives about Insurgent.

  2. I hope you like it! It was one that I tried to read slowly because I knew I would be waiting a while for the next book. However, I didn't stretch it out enough because I am already itching to find out what happens next! This is going to be a long wait for sure!

  3. I'm reading Insurgent right now! I realized it was what I really wanted to read over books to review and/or professional books right now so I finally settled. I'm loving it! I agree, I feel like this one flows more than the first, which makes sense, but I do like it more so far.

  4. Ahha! Both of those are books I want to get to. I was excited for Insurgent, but now that it's out, I haven't picked it up. I did buy myself The Lost Hero, because I loved Percy Jackson so much, but haven't started it either.

  5. I can't wait to read Divergent and Insurgent. I've heard so many good things about them-haven't heard anything negative.
Hopefully our public library is going to order them. Fingers crossed. :)

  6. I have heard that Divergent and Insurgent are great! They are next on my list! I just finished the Maze Runner and started number two in that trilogoy (The Scorch Trials) - they are fantastic! Definitely worth your time. I'm your newest follower and can't wait to delve more into your blog.
